"Time to say goodbye..."

It’s a song, written by Sarah Brightman and Andrea Bocelli. It’s beautyfull and it says everything someone needs to say when he continues his path in life and leaves someone behind.

We played this song at your funeral. Without warning you became sick, was admitted, went into coma. You died one week later. I was working in Kulhudhuffushi when it happened. Right after you were admitted at the hospital I received a call from your brother. He summoned me to come back to Holland as quickly as possible. I still remember that, when I put down the phone, I knew I would never be able to speak with your again.

While I write this article, I am listening to Sarah and Andrea. The song gives me comfort and it reminds me of all the good things you had to offer. It helps me remind me that you had a good life. A life that, beside many struggles, fights, painful and sad moments,  also had moments of glory, happiness and joy. Life eventually brought you what you always told me you stribed for: to make sure I would find my place in this world. That I would be happy, thankful and strong enough to stand on my own two feet.
